We are the 142nd fighter wing, but that’s not who we are since the Oregon Air National Guard’s founding in 1941 Volunteers have been our most important foundation. We’re 1,500 regular citizens. Many of us grew up here, graduated high school here, or brought our families here from across the nation. But we all have a common desire to serve our community. Many know us for our fighter jets which protect the skies from Northern California to the Canadian border. But we are so much more When our forests burn, we answer the call. When our cities need help, we lend a hand And when our fellow Americans experience tragedy we are there You may know us as the clerk at the corner store the nurse at your hospital or your classmate a college We’re all Airmen. We’re your hometown Air Force and we are your neighbors. That is who we are.
