JOE: JEBI, JAPAN’S STRONGEST TYPHOON IN 25 YEARS, HAS LEFT DESTRUCTION AND A MAJOR AIRPORT SHUT DOWN… LEAVING MANY TRAVELERS STRANDED, INCLUDING OUR OWN “WAKE UP 2DAY’S” KELLY SIMEK . LOCAL JAPANESE NEWS OUTLETS REPORT TYPHOON JEBI LEFT SMASHED CARS AND DEBRIS ALL OVER OSAKA, AMONG THE WORST-HIT CITIES. KANSAI AIRPORT WAS SHUT DOWN WHEN AN OCEAN TANKER HIT AND DAMAGED ITS BRIDGE. KELLY SIMEK WAS STRANDED AT THE AIRPORT FOR 30 HOURS. SHE WAS ABLE TO TAKE A FERRY OUT TO THE TOWN OF “KOBE.” KELLY SIMEK: “Going through this typhoon, it’s essentially what we would have gone through with a cat 1 hurricane, right? Basically I learned I’m pretty well prepared. I wouldn’t do anything different.” KELLY SIMEK: “We’re gonna hang out in Japan. We’re going to try to figure out how to get back this weekend. It’s looking like if Osaka doesn’t open, the flights aren’t Monday, it’s looking like.” JOE: KELLY SAYS, SHE MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO A “7/11” TO LOAD UP ON SNACKS AND WATER FOR A FEW DAYS… GOOD TIMING, SINCE THE NEXT DAY EVERYTHING WAS SHUT DOWN.
